Evolution of Photography –Part II

Hi all, its nice to see you all in good cheer. In the first part of the evolution of photography we had a look on the analog camera techniques. In this article we shall have a short understanding of the evolution of digital photography. Can u guess who developed the first prototype of a digital camera? You may think of many companies as an answer for this question. It is actually Kodak, who had built the first prototype of the digital camera.

After this in the year 1981, the Sony Corporation unveiled its first consumer usable camera, named Sony Mavica. Sony Mavica was not completely digital, but it used a CCD (charge coupled device) for image capturing. In the year 1990, Kodak released the DCS 100, the first ever fully digital camera. This is a Kodak camera based on Nikon. The Kodak DCS 100 had an external storage device connected through cables.

Digital Imaging makes use of an image sensor which stores images as a set of electronic data. The major difference between the digital and analog (also called as chemical) photography is that analog photography is prone to manipulations, whereas the digital photography is highly manipulative. This allows post-processing (image processing) which is of a wide use in today’s world.

The digital imaging and post processing has led to many ethical concerns, because of its ease in manipulation of data. Many photo journalists have declared that they will not manipulate the pictures.

The shocking news comes here…..

Kodak conducted a survey in the year 2007, in which 75% of the professional photographers prefer the results of film than those of digital for certain applications.

So we come to a consensus that every invention has both good and bad, but we need to take the good out of it, so that we may live a good and a peaceful life.

Concealed Competitors

Everybody would have read articles, poems and what not on this topic. But I would like to take you to a different perception of understanding of this little giant.

‘Mobile Phones’, the most wanted mania and the trance of not only the teens but even the kids. Let’s just take some time to think of how this little piece of equipment has got obsessed so much into our life’s routine. There is not a minute that we are without it.
But wait………

What has this mobile phone done to the society?

Let’s see………

Which is the most happening camera in India? A question is put forth and lets say the answer would be SONY, CANON and so on………. But it is actually NO!!!

Did we forget those days of setting up our alarm clocks for a early morning study on the day of exams?

Marking friend’s birthday and important dates in the calendar........

Tuning the radio for the morning news........

think...!!!

Do u ever remember doing any of the above mentioned things in the recent past of your life...

All these things are replaced by this one little giant, MOBILE PHONE.

Ever would have SONY or CANNON or TITAN would have had the slightest thought of having such a competitor. Definitely not.

This is just a small thought that is put forth. Lets start to think beyond the boundaries and go the extra mile to find even our hidden competitors to soar high.

Evolution of Photography Part-I

Researchers say that there is no specified time of when photography was invented. It grew little by little as days passed by and there was a tremendous change in the 18th century. In ancient times they used something called Camera Obscura meaning dark room. This is an optical device that projects the image of its surroundings on a screen. This led to major inventions in photography.

The first photo was discovered in the year 1827, using a material that hardened on exposure to light for around eight hours. Then came the photographic plates which reduced the exposure time to half an hour.

Sir John Herschel used the term “photography” for the first time in the year 1839. The word photography is derived from Greek Language which means light and writing. At this part of time there was a fear that painting and drawing would cease to exist, because till then photography was just drawing to them. These photographic plates were then researched and made photo rolls and were manufactured in large number and were given for public use. Even in today’s analog cameras, the technique of Camera Obscura is in use.

Advancements in Media

In today’s fast moving world Media plays a vital role in each and every part of our life; be it radio, television, movies, telephones, internet and much more. Everything has shifted from analog to digital, from film rolls to memory sticks, from video tapes to dvds and i-pods, from black and white DOS to colorful GUIs, from bigger Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT) TVs to slimmer High Definition (HD)s and LEDs, from PSTN(Public Switch Telephone Network) to mobiles 1G and now we are at the start of 4G and the list keeps going.

With media, world becomes smaller and smaller day by day. With the advancement in technology people come closer, they see face to face even if they are in two different ends. Wow!! How great it is. Thanks to the Technology.

In the future articles, we shall discuss in detail, the different aspects in Media and their contribution to make us feel better.

PS3-King of play stations (games)

The advanced technology in the gamers world which establishes its own kingdom is PS3. Now-a-days everybody wants to have more user friendly, compatible and entertainment equipments which suit their frenzy life.PS3 is the upgraded version of ps2 which adds up all the latest versions and technologies.

The very good feature of ps3 is including Blue-Ray Player. It’s a well advanced feature than DVD player where DVD players can store up to 4GB and Blue-Ray can confine nearly 40GB.hence in PS3 even Blue-Ray discs are played which made PS3 a well successful product.

Even we can install LINUX in PS3 in Non-slim versions which crafted users to play even in their computers and laptops. Most of the PS3 models are backward compatible and therefore PS2 comes into picture here. Even PSP can be connected to PS3 which endow more handy games, online music downloads and online gaming.

The very important plus for game developers in PS3 is that no mods are invented for PS3 which made PS3 more robust. And PS3 has NVIDIA which is highly marketed internal GPU Graphics processor. PS3 includes all the other external features like Bluetooth, USB2, Ethernet interfaces which pave the way for downloading and transferring games from the net and other systems.

WI-fI has been introduced in some models of PS3.It uses OpenGL Rendering and PS3 can also be implemented with Folding@home[Some science project].
